Groovin´on a New York afternoon

New York is a stunning and fascinating city. The buildings, the streets, the people; but especially the music enriched my life.
Every of my New York visits was something unique for me.  To close old friends in my arms after that long,  taking a trip to one of the many jazz clubs, but also seeing a lot of old things which might have changed: discovering new sides, meet new people or listening to another new interpretation of an old jazz standard which have been one of your favorites so long.
This City which had already in the past been characterized as "the city that doesn't sleep" (Frank Sinatra) inspires and touches me every time anew.

That is also the reason why I chose this song for my debut CD. The video beside the text is underlaid with some pictures I took during my trips to New York City.

Groovin´ on  a New York afternoon

New York ist eine atemberaubende und faszinierende Stadt. Die Gebäude, die Straßen, die Menschen; besonders aber die Musik haben mein Leben sehr bereichert.
Jeder Besuch in New York ist für mich etwas einzigartiges. Alte Freunde nach langer Zeit wieder in die Arme schließen zu können, einen Abstecher in einen der unzähligen Jazzclubs machen, aber auch gleichzeitig sehen, was sich seit dem letzten mal alles verändert hat: wieder neue Seiten entdecken, neue Leute kennenlernen oder neue Interpretationen deines alten Lieblings-Jazz-Standarts hören…
Diese bereits in der Vergangenheit durch große Künstler wie Frank Sinatra besungene „niemals schlafende“ Stadt hat auch mich inspiriert und sie berührt mich jedes mal aufs neue. 
Das ist auch der Grund dafür, dass ich dieses Lied für meine CD ausgewählt und das Video mit einigen schönen Bildern von meinen Aufenthalten in New York City unterlegt habe.



Tapping feet

This piece is one of the first songs I actually wrote. One day as I went to an concert with the ADS-Bigband this song was born. Listening to these great musicians during their rehearsal and seeing them feeling and moving to the beat, tapping their feet on the ground and just keep on swinging got me immediately. I would have loved to sing along with them but instead I decided to capture this moment. So this piece is much more the result of a captured moment of one point in my life where music once again captured me - even in a very easy way but seeing musicians even nowadays playing, swinging and interacting with each other fills my heart with joy.

Tapping feet

Dieses Lied verdanke ich im Grunde der ADS-Bigband. Als wir eines Tages ein gemeinsames Konzert gaben & uns auf den Auftritt vorbereiteten, entstand dieses Lied. Das simple Wippen ihrer Füße zum Rhythmus der Musik, ihre Interaktion miteinander und die Klänge der Instrumente berührten mich auf ihre eigene Art und Weise. Anstatt direkt mit einzusteigen, entschloss ich mich den Moment zu genießen und dieses Lied zu schreiben.
