Howard Johnson

Das Foto habe ich nach Howards BigBand Probe in Midtown in New York City 2004 aufgenommen.

This photograph was taken in New York City 2004 - somewhere in Midtown after a rehearsal.

Howard Johnson is an excellent musician, arranger, composer, bandleader and not at last a wonderful human being.

The photo of Howard (on the right) I took in Hamburg right before an upcoming gig at Birdland Hamburg (great Club by the way! - take time to check it out!)

Ray Passman

The left Photo was taken by the great Bob Dorough at Iridium Club 2003

"You got the New York Thing"   wurde bald mein Lieblings-Songs, welchen ich auf meiner CD " Many things to say" aufnahm.

Here you can see Ray giving me his signature on one of a few sheets he gave to me from his writings.

"You got the New York Thing"  soon became  one of my favorite songs which I was very proud to record for my debut CD "Many things to say"

Ray Passman was one of the most brilliant lyricist and music publisher (Raybird music) .
I met Ray during my first stay at NYC. I was visiting "Trudi Mann's Open Mic" at Chez Suzette when he went on stage and sung this wonderful song ("Ya got the New York thing") which fascinated me because of the mentioned feeling in the lyric which I was already feeling about the city New York itself and the people living in it.

I really miss this wonderful human being.

Ray, Bob and me at Iridium Club

The photo of both of us was taken by Ray Passman at the Iridium Club 2003

Ray Passman introduced me to the great, wonderful and inspiring musician Bob Dorough.

This picture of Bob & me was taken by Ray at the Iridium Club 2003.

A lot of time went by before we were able to meet again. When I got to knew of his upcoming concert at Birdland Hamburg nothing could hold me back - the ticket was bought directly - and no matter what would come - I wanted to be there and I made it.

Bob is of cause still an awesome performer and entertainer. For me its fascinating how much energy is left in a man of such a ripe old age .

In 2007 one of my biggest wishes came true. I met one of my earliest Jazz Idol: Paul Kuhn.

There are no words to describe this wonderful and lovely man - his music and the memory is all left but this will stay at last.

Paul Kuhn

Barry Harris
